About BiTDAO

Why Baddies in Tech DAO? - The Problem

As it stands today, women of color make up only 5% of the technology workforce globally. Those of us who have been in the tech game for a few years are intimately familiar with un-inclusive and inequitable workplaces where we face pervasive bro-culture, many of us being the only woman of color on our teams.

While this lack of representation causes almost 50% of female technologists to leave the industry by the age of 35 many of us choose to stay (read: endure) and be the change we want to see by sharing our career journeys online, creating content, providing resources and opportunities to aspiring technologists, and volunteering as mentors to the next generation of tech baddies.

While our individual efforts move the needle, our organized, collective effort moves mountains! For this reason, BiTDAO exists as a decentralized collective of change-makers championing the inclusion of women of color in tech.

What is Baddies in Tech DAO? - The Solution

Baddies in Tech: The DAO (BiTDAO) is a decentralized collective of change-makers championing representation and inclusion for women of color in tech. Our mission is to help women of color break into and belong in tech, and through our efforts, we envision increasing the percentage of women of color in computing roles to 10% by 2030. We plan on doing this by creating and funding opportunities for education, mentorship, and scholarship for underrepresented female techies globally.

Our first mission as a collective is to establish an online membership that grants women of color access to technology resources, opportunities and networks. We will also start an IRL NYC chapter for like-minded baddies who want to be at the fore-front of changing the face of tech. We will begin making governance decisions for the DAO and curating events for the NYC chapter in the Fall of 2022. To join as an early contributor, please fill out this form.
